Is this weight loss okay

Hi guys! How have you all been? Well I am 8 weeks out (if you count by Mondays not date wise)..today. I am down 34 pounds. I wi**** were more. I am sure its normal, but doesn't seem normal to me. Does this look normal to you??? Date of Surgery: 4/18/05 weighed in at 280 As of this morning...I weighed 246. Seems like I am just dripping...the scale hardly budges!!! I finally dropped that 1/2 pound that was lingering. Okay...I just wanted to whine!! Was anyone elses a slow weight loss (i know we shouldn't be comparing ourselves to anyone else...but you know we all do it!) xoxoxojenn

Jenn, ok when was the last time that you lost 34# in 8 weeks? First off stay away from the scale, I know that it is fun to see it coming off but you are just causing yourself anxiety. It is common to slow down at this point. The body is still in shock over the major surgery that you are healing from and is conserving calories because it thinks that you are starving it. Up your protein as much as you can and if you have been given the go ahead to do your exercising do it. Your body will become accustomed to the calorie intake that you are putting in and the only way that the scale will go is down.

Not to worry, Jennifer. I had surgery a month earlier than you and I've lost just 33 pounds. (I also lost 25 in the 2 months before surgery, so my grand total is 58). If I can lose 10 pounds a month I'll be happy. Chris is right. Get off the scale. I weigh myself once a week and I'm beginning to think even that's too often. Start taking pleasure in all the other little victories like looser clothes, fitting in airplane seats, and getting off meds. You are NORMAL, honey!
