Southern Illinois Support group?

Do any of you know of a support group in Southern Illinois and by that I mean in the Carbondale/Marion area? I had My surgery March 15th and I have lost 75 pounds now and feel great. I would like to meet and support/get supported by other people in my area. I had my surgery done in St. Louis but to get to there support group meetings is very difficult. Thanks

Hi Robert!! I am from Johnston City and am still preop. There is a support group meeting this Thursday at St Joes hospital in Murphysboro from 6-8. congratulations on the 75lbs loss. I go to my first consult with my surgeon on Monday 13, so i am getting very excited. Keep us posted on your loss and how you are doing. Nanette

Hey, Good Luck on Wed., I'll keep you in my mind and prayers on Wed. Dr. Eagon is great. He and his Staff really know what they are doing. Can't wait to see you post again after the surgery. Are you having open or LAP?

The plan is to do the lap prcedure. He wanted me to lose 20 pounds so I would be eligible for it. I can't believe TOMORROW is the day! Kathy O.

Robert, I am glad to see that you are doing so well. We had surgery on the same date. Were you the one that called me after I got out of surgery? My husband said that a gentleman called and he had surgery that morning also. Lori

Lori, I'm not the one that called, I was probly in preop when you got out, but I think I did E'mail you before and wish you luck. I hope your doing as good as I am or better.

I am glad that you asked that question cause i was not sure about a group in our area either so i will attentd that meeting this thursday as well i have surgery on monday the 13th of june so i can use the support. Kim

Hey- if youre going to go, we can ride over there together as I was planning on going this time(I soo forgot last month). Just give me a call and let me know how ya want to work it out. There's no sense in wasting gas in both our vehicles when we're both going to the same place. If nothing else, come out to my place and we can go from there in my van. How are the kids feelin'? Cody was last night and about 5am this morning Zach was doing the same. I'm waiting for Ty to be at it too either by the end of the day or tomorrow. lol Talk to you later!

Robert, There is the Southern Illinois ObesityHelp Support Group which meets the fourth Monday of the Month in the Garden Room at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville. I know it is not as close as you would like but feel free to come on down our way and join us. Meeting times start around 6:00 pm and we are usually on our way home by 8:00 pm.
