wish center
Dr. Rosen of the Wish Center was my surgeon. Read the comments about him. They are remarkably consistent, especially about his great sense of humor. But, he's also an excellent surgeon and has done the surgery hundreds of times with a very low complication rate. My experience at the Wish Center has been great. The program is thorough and you really have to prove you're ready for the rigors of the lifestyle change that is coming. So, you see an exercise physiologist and start an exercise program, you see a dietician who gives you a diet plan to follow, you see a psychologist and take psychological tests, the nurse gives you various medical tests. I had to get letters from my PCP and my cardiologist saying surgery was ok. They sent me off for a sleep study and, yes, I did have sleep apnea. I started taking all the vitamins, eating slowly, chewing everything and not drinking with meals. Lots of work, but it was worth it because I lost 25 pounds in the 2 months before surgery.
The hospital was outstanding. Wish has a floor devoted to WLS. The nurses and staff were very caring and understood all the issues we face. There are support groups monthly after surgery and everyone who works there has been available for my myriad of questions.
It's been a great experience and I recommend them highly.
