Just moved to Chicgo-need info
Hi All,
I just moved to Chicago. I am living and working in the O'Hare area. I had surgery 3/16 at Barix in Columbus. I was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion for a good WLS friendly PCP some where in this area.I am due back in Columbus for my three month check and I'll need to get bloodwork done in the next few weeks or so. I am also looking for a good support group. I am so happy to be here in Chicago...but I've had a lot of change in the past few months and I want to make sure I stay on the right track.

HI Lori,
My sugeon in Columbus asked me to come back to him for the three month just to make sure everything was okay. Then, I think he will release me to go to the Illinois Barix which will be nice. I am trying to sell my house in Columbus so it actually will be a good idea to go back and check on it as well as go to my appointment. I have not figured it all out yet but Belvidere seems much more convenient. I hope the surgeons are as nice as they are in Columbus!I had a really good experience. Terry
Hi Terry and welcome to Chicago..
There are a number of groups in your area .. Where in the O'Hare area do you live?
My group meets at Alexian Brothers in Arlington Heights (off Biesterfield Rd) and it's open to anyone for a $10 co-pay (it's run by a either a registered MFCC or our psychologist, depending on which day you go.. it's pretty awesome). Arlington Heights is probably about 5 or 10 minutes from O'Hare.. depending on where you are.
As for a WLS friendly PCP.. since you already had it, does your PCP need to be in support of it? Just a thought.. your PCP should deal with all your medical concerns, regardless of how they got there.. and unfortunately, I can't recommend anyone since my PCP is in Oak Park (he's great, by the way.. but he's in Oak Park.. that's about 20min towards the city from O'Hare).
If you are interested in any further information about either, just click the email button at the bottom and let me know.
