I just got a letter in the mail from the a Geoffrey S. Goodman 321 N. Clark St Suite 2800 Chicago Illinois. That case # 05-16002 in the United States Bankruptcy Court Northern Disrtict of Illinois. Wish Center is going for Chapter 11 protection!!!!!!! Has anyone heard anything about this? I was at the monthly support group meeting on 05/05/05 and nothing was said about this at all! I don't know what this means for us post op people, but I am more concerned for the ones who are scheduled for surgery....... JUST A FYI, Goodluck to all of us Wish Center Patients

John, I think you and I may have been in the same discussion group at the last meeting. Anyway, I got the letter yesterday too. I have no idea what it means. I'm going to call my brother who is a lawyer and ask him about it -- but he probably won't know much since he specializes in malpractice law and not bankruptcy. Anyway, I found it all disturbing because I have really benefitted from the support WISH Center has given me and I'd like to see them survive. Like you, I'm concerned for people I know who will be having surgery in the next few months. I can't believe a bankruptcy would affect us much. The letter called us "creditors." Well, they certainly don't owe me any money. In fact, I have not been billed for my surgery or appointments yet. In dealing with their billing area, I certainly noticed that they were terminally confused and non-responsive. I guess this letter is giving us an indication why. So, I will definitely be looking at this thread to see what anyone else has to say. Donna

Donna, read my reply to John and also the one that WISH responded with. They will be operating business as usual, Chapter 11 is a means for the company to reestabli****self. I can also email you what Jody Thompson sent to me via email. If either of you are not on their email list you may want to consider asking for your address to be included for future mailings. They also update patients monthly for the support groups and the online support group chats.

Dear WISH Patient, On Friday, April 22, 2205, WISH filed to reorganize under Chapter 11 of the Federal Bankruptcy Code. A copy of our Chapter 11 press release is on the WISH web site, as well as a question and answer document for our patients. We want our patients to know that WISH is continuing business as usual in all five of its current locations. All locations are still conducting free seminars. Surgeries are continuing with the same highly trained doctors as before. Post-operative care will still be there for you in the WISH clinics. The simplest way to look at this is, nothing has changed with respect to patient care! Patient care is WISH's number one priority, and will continue to be our focus going forward. As a WISH patient, it is possible you will receive a letter from the bankruptcy court notifying you of the Chapter 11 filing and giving you instructions on filing a claim if you believe WISH owes you money. This is a normal part of the Chapter 11 process. For most patients receiving this letter, the claim filing information does not apply. Again, we emphasize that the decision to file Chapter 11 in no way affects the quality of our program. You are encouraged to read the question and answer document on our web site. The link to that site is: (http://www)wishcenter.org/new/restructure.asp

John, Read the reply that someone from WISH replied to you on your question. In essence they are filing for reoranization under Chapter 11 of the Federal Bankrutcy Code. The e-mail that I received from Jody Thompson at WISH today said that WISH is continuing business as usual in all five of its current locations. I can forward it to you if you send me an email. The attorneys have to send out those letters so if a person is owed anything from the organization they have a means for collecting the monies owed them. Sometimes what happens when a company does this is that another company will come in and take over the day to day operations and they move on pretty much business as usual. Please read this link that is on the WISH site. (http://www)wishcenter.org/new/restructure.asp Hope this info helps. See you at the next support group in June.

John, I too had my surgery almost 3 years ago thru the WISH Center. No regrets, but unfortunately they had to go thru a chapter 11. I believe they had on their website a copy of the letter explaining what this means to us post-ops. Which is just about nothing basically. It is only being sent to a select few who think that the WISH Center may owe them money. To those going thru their surgery now, it isn't supposed to affect those people either. But I'm sure that right about now most of those people are VERY concerned. I'd be too if I heard that news and I've already put out my deposit! But according to their site it shouldn't affect those people and it is required by law that they tell their past, present and future patients about this filing. Carole
