Severe back pain finally diagnosed
I went for a MRI (which was closed and NOT fun) and got results today. I have herniated disks, protruding disks, and Hemangioma tumor all on 2 disks. I am relieved to knows its not "in my head" but also devestated. Chiropractor wants me to start physical therapy but haven't talked to pcp yet. I also don't know what this means for me for my WLS either. I am in begining stages and go to the presentation this saturday. I just don't know how I am going to deal with all this. Well, just wanted to update whoever is interested. Boy do I need a drink right now!

Jennifer,
I've been thinking about you. I got your IM the other night but you were gone by the time I got it.. I hope you had a good Mother's Day.
Sometimes I think having a diagnosis is as good as having a cure -- at least you know there is treatment for the pain you're experiencing.. and this surgery may end up being the way to make it all work out.. relieving the stress on your back will go a long way towards helping it heal.
I had a good deal of back pain pre-op and it's gone now (granted, I didn't have it as bad as you do.. but there is definitely an improvement over what it was).. When you go to the seminar, be sure to ask Dr. Kane or whoever is the Dr at the seminar if that could present a barrier for surgery.
It's all going to work out, Jenn.. I can feel it!
Hope you start feeling better soon and I can't wait to hear your update from the seminar! (how did the group go last week?)
