Ahead of myself...
Halo!
I will be 4 weeks out on the 16th! When do you begin 'normal' meals? Just curious....trying to plan some dinners at the house w/friends. Friends who don't know about my surgery! I am assuming at my next appt they will tell me to start to add veggies. Guess I am anxious to fit into the family meals thing! TIA xoxoxojenn
Jennifer,
Each surgeon has a different eating and food plan for their patients. I wasn't on "regular foods" until about 6wks out. I was on pureed for weeks 4 and 5 and could "get away" with regular foods if I chewed them until they were pureed mush in my mouth before swallowing.
I'd say, to be safe, talk to your surgeon about it. If they don't have a well-defined plan, then maybe plan another kind of get together with your friends? Maybe you can have a movie night... or a dessert night (where you can make yourself some s/f pudding and have that -- they'll never know the difference!)..
Be creative!!

I began "normal" foods at 6 weeks, but I have been careful and used soft foods like fish. I still use baby food fruit and veggies once in a while because they are so convenient. I am not supposed to eat fresh veggies until 3 months out. And it best to cook veggies to death and not eat ones that may be harder to digest. I have been out to restaurants many times with friends, some of whom don't know about the surgery. I've found it easy to make good choices. I just pack most of it up and tell them I'm dieting.
