Just denied... what do I do next?

A got my denial letter and I am very upset. I don't know where to go from here. Would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks!

Hi Carrie Who is your surgeon? My first step would be to talk to them and use their experience...........I had a BMI of 40 which is borderline and an insurance company that stated in no uncertain terms that they covered no Weight Loss Surgery.......and I was accepted first time out.......There are many letters you can write......I would recommend you go to the Main Site and request information from other areas than Illinois....If I can help please do not hesitate to contact me.........My Doctor is James Kane Jr out of Elk Grove and Hoffman Estates........I am 16 months post and down below goal at 107 pounds lighter........Best Wishes and Good Luck........Patti

Dear Carrie: Don't give up yet. I read your profile. Get the second opinion and call all of the doctors that you have seen over the past 3 years. During your appointments they should have weighed you each time. If you ever told any of your doctors which diet you were trying at the time, it should be in their notes. Get those records. Lots of insurance companies deny the initial request hoping that you will just go away. Appeal, Appeal, Appeal!!!!!

Hi Carrie. Keep fighting i was turned down 5 times before i was accepted.It took me 3 1/2 years 3 insurance companys 5 appeals letters before i got the good word.so don't quit keep fighting and trying. Jeff 459/325/220 sugery date 12/27/2004
