. Hi Tammy Just curious why you want lap band. If it's a shorter recovery time, I have heard of people going back to work a week after having lap RNY. I went back to work 2-1/2 weeks after my surgery. I probably could have went back earlier, but I wouldn't have been fully recovered. Just wondering....... Dayna 310/284/110

Some people want lap band because it is less invasive as far as a person's insides being altered and permenantly also. She may be young and may not want to do such a drastic thing to her body as RNY. Yes, RNY can be reversed but it is a very complicated surgery and has many risks. I am with you I went back to work in 3 weeks. I stretched my time off past the Memorial holiday. I had open RNY. I am glad that I went the route that I did. I am not really sure I would have wanted the fact that the band can start to erode inside of me or slip also as it can. There are many people that have their bands converted to RNY in the end because of poor weight loss. People also need to realize that they do not dump with the band and it is also possible that you can totally "eat" around your surgery by eating a lot of junk. The only thing that I feel about the band is that it is just restrictive, a person will have to be disciplined for the rest of their lives on what they eat.

. Hi Christine! I have heard the same things regarding Lap Band. As far as I'm concerned, I want to be restricted on what I can eat, and I want to only be able to eat healthy. That's why I chose lap RNY. It gives me a tighter rein on what I can put into my body now. I WANT to be restricted in what I eat, or the surgery will be useless. Dayna
