Did you crave chocolate or other sweets when she came to visit before surgery? If so, now that you are post op do you still? If you do, what do you eat to satisfy them? TIA, Nancy

Pre-Op I didnt really crave anything. Well, except my pepsi. Post-Op, I'm going to have to find something else to crave I assume. But I dont even WANT a pop anymore. They make the sugar free chocolates and such. If a person craves chocolate bad enough, they could always have 1 or 2 of those in moderation because of the sugar alcohols of course. I've not had aunt flo come to visit yet(minus when I started in the hosp..) So I'm hoping I dont crave a thing. lol

I'm a chocoholic by nature. It always increased when "that time" came.I would also become so much more emotional just before. So, I would just have the chocolate(in moderation,of course). The sugar free candy,or a chocolate protein shake would "take care of business" for me.Like above posting states,be careful of the sugar alcohols.I do experience diarhea when I've had too much.(sorry for the graphics!!!) You can have plenty of chocolate post-op, it's just the sugar that you have to avoid. Try sugar free chocolate pudding. That usually goes down pretty good when you're a newbie. You can even add powdered milk to the mix and increase the protein content. Or for that matter, you can add protein powder if you'd like. There are many sugar free chocolate products out there that don't use sugar alcohols (like pudding and protein drinks). I would not experiment with sugar alcohols until you're a few months out and you know what foods you can tolerate. Besides, sugar free candies have useless calories. Early on you really need to focus on nutrition and healthy eating habits. Keep the junk foods out of your life for as long as possible because once you open that gate it's unlikely you'll be able to close it again. Trust me, when you're two years out you'll find that there are plenty of open gates you wish were never opened.

I didn't then but I DO NOW!! holy schneikes!! If I could slather my body with chocolate right now I WOULD!! seriously.. your tastes and cravings really change a lot post-op.. it's hard to say what you will experience until you get there. Your cravings may disappear entirely.. they may change or they may stay the same. Wish I could be better help.. Stef
