I find that i am scared about surgery, Today i went to my weigh****chers meeting and they really gave me a hard time about surgery. I wanted to cry i felt like they were making fun of me. Then i am worried about if anything would happen to me during or after surgery. I have small children and could not imagine leaving them. Am i just looking at it the wrong way? I do really want this bad but i am really.... truely....scared! Please send your prayers this direction to help me cope with what ever god lays before me. Things will happen if they are ment to and i can not change that even if i wanted to. Kim

. Kim, I think it's totally realistic to have fears of surgery. It's natural. I had them, but knew that if I didn't do something NOW - I would be much worse off down the road. My surgery was just 4/6 -- so if you want to follow the journey of a newly post-op person, check out my profile. Good luck on your journey!!! Dayna 310/284/110

Kim, it is totally normal to feel scared at this point before surgery. I was so scared that I backed out a week before my surgery. I was terrified for my 3 small children and lets face it we only hear the negative things about this surgery. My loving husband sat me down and talked to me and explained to me that when it was my time to go the good lord was going to call me no matter what. It could have been by a car accident or anything. So, I decided to go ahead with the surgery or I was going to be miserable for the rest of my life. I am now 15 months out and 135 pounds lighter. I feel like a whole new person! My kids love it, because I now get down and play with them in the floor. I play softball, which I have never done in my life. So, it is ok to be scared, but try to think about the more positive things you are going to get out of this surgery. Please feel free to email me anytime! Good luck!! Mellisia 342/209/170

Hi Kim, Your feelings are right on target. We all have the same ones. I am 10 post op, and doing great. It is hard to face what may possibly be your own mortality. I know I prayed to God for guidance to make the right decisions. But you know what, when it is our time to be with the Lord, he makes that decision, not us. We have no control over that one. If a doctor told you that you needed heart surgery or any other surgery you would be frightened also, but chances are you would go ahead with it. Yes, this is a big operation, but keeping it in perspective, there are plenty of other procedures out there that are just as risky, but yet they are done on a daily basis. My advice to you is to get yourself in the best shape possible prior to surgery and that way you should have little or no complications. Take care and let God lead you in your decisions. Kristi
