I have a question for you comp people
I went to my surgeon's informational meeting in June with a friend.
I met with him in August after filling out all my paper work and sending it to them.
I got insurance approval in September.
My surgical pre-req's were met in October.
My surgery was November 12.
So... roughly five months.
HTH!

Along with everyone's doctor's protocols, amount of weight lost the first week/month, etc. -- let me tell you, there is no one set time frame for anything to do with this surgery! Especially dealing with doctors and insurance!
I was one of the lucky ones.
Feb 18 - I saw my PCP and asked her for a referral for WLS.
Feb 24 - I was approved for surgery by my insurance (BC/BS HMO IL).
March 1 - I saw my surgeon.
March 3 - I got my date of April 6th.
April 6 - I had my surgery.
So, if you're asking how long from meeting the surgeon to having the surgery, for me it was a little over 1 month.
Please view my profile - and you will see that follow-up is absolutely necessary to be able to do this like I did. I followed up with the referral specialist at my PCP's office to make sure the referrals were being done. I followed up with my surgeon's office when needed. Don't feel like you are being a "pest" - sometimes paperwork gets lost in the shuffle. This is a big decision for you, and why have it delayed because someone has had the paperwork sitting on their desk for two weeks?
Also, keep in mind if your job has Short Term Disability - it may be available to you. That is another thing to follow up on.
Good luck with your journey!!
