NEW WLS SUpport Group Forming in So. IL

A NEW WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY SUPPORT GROUP HAS BEEN FORMED IN BELLEVILLE, ILLINOIS. THE SUPPORT GROUP WILL MEET MONTHLY AT UNION UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ON TUESDAYS STARTING APRIL 12 AT 7PM. THE GROUP WILL BE FACILITATED BY PHIL ELMORE WHO HAD WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY IN AUGUST. THIS GROUP IS FOR ADULTS WHO ARE PRE-OP, POST -OP OR JUST EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITY OF WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY. Phillip is this the same group that use to meet at swic? and if not is there a reason we have two in our area now? just curious I dont go to support group due to my work schedule but was wondering.. Debby

Debby, As far as I know our support group that meets at SWIC is not connected to this new group. I will place a post with the information for the Southern Illinois Obesityhelp Support Group. We usually meet at SWIC the first Tuesday of every month. Lisa

Hi Phillip, I have been looking for a Support Group in the Southern Illinois area. I have been attending the one at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, MO. I know there is one that meets at SWIC but I could never get any information regarding when they meet. I would love to attend your's. Pam

I didn't realize there was a support group meeting at SWIC - I heard there was one at one time but I was also told they weren't meeting anymore. Anyway, I came to this web site and didn't find anything, so Obesity Help, Inc. put me through training and we now have a new support group. I think it's great to have two groups in Belleville. You can either go the first Tues of the month to SWIC or the 2nd Tues of the month to Union United Methodist Church. They both meet at 7p. I can only speak for the 2nd Tues group. Our materials and topics are supported by Obesity Help, Inc. Future meetings will include recipe discussions and possibly a cooking demonstration. We will also have guests invited from time to time like dieticians and or surgeons. I LOOK FORWARD TO OUR INAUGURAL MEETING TUESDAY APRIL 12 AT 7p AT UNION UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 721 E. MAIN ST.
