OK----my surgeon told me to let his office handle everything for pre-certification. I have been waiting patiently for two weeks. I am really trying not to be one of those pain-in-the-neck kind of people since I work with a lot of customer service and I just hate it when customers call me over and over about the same thing....... Anyway, I finally get up the nerve to call and check with the surgeon's office last Monday. She calls me back very late Tuesday afternoon. She said that she hasn't heard anything, but that she would check. She also said that if I didn't hear from her in a few days to call her back. So...first thing this morning, I decide to call my insurance company and check on the pre-cert. The pre-cert department does not have "anything in the system", and she gives me her fax number in Chicago. (My group is in Brookfield, WI.) She then transfers me to someone else in the Claims and Benefits dept. OF COURSE, they don't have anything "in the system" for me either. They say to call the surgeon's office and have them send it again. SO.....I call the surgeon's office. The co-ordinator doesn't really have anything to say except "I faxed it on the 18th and I got a confirmatin that it went through." She does, after badgering from me say that she can try the new fax number in Chicago, but that she soesn't really want to fax it to too many different places to confuse them. I ask her to maybe call and sort it out, but she does not want to get THAT involved. She ends by saying that she will fax my information to the new number in Chicago. She does not promise to call me back any time in the near future. So, I guess my option now it to become the pain-in-the-neck that I didn't want to be know as???? Thanks for listening! I just needed to get that out!!

Hey Dawn Baloney I say! Baloney!! You call them back and tell her to fax that to the Chicago number ASAP! Far better for too many people to have that paperwork than not the right one at all IMHO. Either she's handling it or she isn't - not getting "that involved" isn't handling it thoroughly. You go on and be a pain in the neck if you need to - which I really wouldn't call it at all. You're actively involved in the process of getting yourself to a healthier state and they should understand that! Best wishes! Cathy

Thanks! The birth of the next pain-in-the-neck has just occured! My insurance agent (who volunteered to take care of everything from the beginning, but the surgeon said,"No") happened to just call to see how things were going, and I told her, and she said to have the co-ordinator fax everything to HER, and she will follow through. Again, it really helps to know someone out there cares and has been where I am now
