UNITED HEALTH CARE PPO~ HOW LONG DOES AN APPROVAL TAKE?

ANYONE DEALT WITH UHC PPO?...ABOUT HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO HEAR FROM THEM? I AM GOING NUTS WAITING? ANY STORIES/ADVICE WILL BE HELPFUL......THANKS TO YOU ALL.......JULIE M

Hi Julie, I have UHC Options PPO. I saw Dr. Frantzides on February 18th for an initial consult. He gave me a surgery date and paperwork for all the pre-tests at the consult. I then, over the course of the next 3 weeks, scheduled all my pre-tests, had my letter faxed from my primary care to the surgeon and they submitted everything for me to UHC on March 15th. I checked on the 21st (Monday) and they hadn't received some paperwork that they needed. This was then re-faxed from the surgeon's office and I was officially approved yesterday! So total time from paperwork submission to approval was about a week. I'm sure there is some variation between companies though...I don't know if all UHC PPO's work the same way as mine. Mine uses as pre-certification company called SHPS. That's who officially approves this procedure.

Hi Julie I have UHC Choice PPO through my husbands employer (BNSF Railroad) I was approved within a couple of days. Liv Lite took care of all the insurance stuff and got a verbal approval over the phone first and they faxed over an approval letter the same day. I will say I was shocked but my husbands plan is really good. I was told UHC is one of the easiest to deal with so you should be fine God Bless Chelle
