WHEN CAN I START TO BUG INSURANCE FOR AN APPROVAL?
it's not likely they'd have an approval for you this soon.. but it can't hurt to call and confirm that they've received your packet.. ask for a file reference #, find out if there's someone specific you can talk to about the status of your request..
Get the name and extension of everyone you talk to.. and keep notes.. so you can refer to the conversation later if you start getting inconsistent information.

Julie, sometimes it is a double edged sword by calling this early. Sometimes you will get a *****y rep on the other end and will not give any info or will claim that they have nothing yet even though they do have it. Sometimes on the other hand it is good to bug them because they will get the hint that you are interested and you are staying in their proverbial face so to spea****il you get the answer that you want. I am a strong proponent of the squeak wheel getting noticed. BUT you need to be super sweet if you are going to bug them. Like Stef said get the name and extension of who you talk with, remember that you draw more bees with honey than vinegar (be real nice, not sickenly sweet save that for the denial) and also document the date and time you call on a log and what transpires. Unfortunately, you need this if in the end they give you a bad time with being approved.
