Barix/Dr. Vaughn or Dr. Boe patients
Thanks Terry!!
I completely agree we shouldn't compare ourselves to anyone else but when she said I SHOULD already be on B12 and she was so shocked that I wasn't yet I got a lil worried that doc forgot to tell me about that. She reads alot from the main board and I guess it IS the "norm" there that you should be on it before 3 months out or even if you don't show low levels of it. I'm glad I asked because I feel reassured now that it wasn't just something they missed.
Good luck with your tests next week!!
~hugs~

Konni, just thought I'd let you know about my blood work. They told me that everything was fine except my B-12 which is TOO HIGH! Who'd have thought that would be the case, eh? So I've been told to cut back to once a week on the sublingual B-12, since I'm already getting it in my daily multivitamin. Dr. Vaughn also said that even if you were stranded on a deserted island with no source of B-12, it would take 4-5 months before your levels would be affected, and that people worry too much about it. Just an update for you.
Terry
The part of our intestine that absorbs b12 is bypassed...so the only way to absorb it is sublingually. you can just pop a couple under your tongue (the gnc ones taste like a cherry lifesaver..kinda) and not worry about overdosing..because theyre water soluable. I get very fuzzy-headed if I go too long without mine

Hi Konni,
At my 6 week Jennifer told me that Dr. Boe was now recommending that his paitents take a b-complex daily and 1000 mg of calcium twice daily. I am taking both. She said to take 1/2 of the calcium in the am and the other 1/2 in the pm.
I use zero carb isopure protein powder for my morning protein shake. It also has 25% of the RDA of b-12 in 1/2 of a serving or 1 scoop. Additionally I drink the fruit 2 0 plus water which also has 50% of the RDA b-12 in 20 oz. It is very tasty.
