Heading to the PCP for first time...

I'm going to the PCP that Dr. Freddy recommended to me. I haven't had a PCP in a good...6 years. What is he supposed to do? LOL I mean, what should I expect of him as my PCP. I'm sure he'll run my labs and all but then what? So what does your PCP do for you? Melissa

Hi.. I'll make this quick, for I am at work and just have 15min. coffee break before i go back on the floor. My PCP does a physical, pap smear (some ins. only pay for this once a year) and answers any and all concern I might have. It sounds like your going for a FULL PHYSICAL since you probably haven't had one in quite some time?? Either way, It's good to let the receptionist know, so they will "time" the doctor according to your visit. Um, basically labs (CBC, Lipid, Chem 14 and depending on your medical history other labs. Those are the most common.) And my doc is great, very supportive. Talk to him/her, if you feel comfortable and like the atmosphere..then it sounds like you found a good doc. Good Luck....gotta go! Well Grace summed it up but this is also the person you go to if you get sick.. and decide self medicating isnt working... If you have a papsmear remember to spread em and say ahhhh. and enjoy ROFL! Debby
