Got back from Vegas on Saturday. I had a wonderful time and finally got to see my main-man, Mr. Elton John. The concert was better then I could have ever imagined. Of course, Elton put on a great show with his Red Piano but I think I especially enjoyed it because I waited so long to go see him (probably 30 years or so - god am I old!). I'm now packing for another business trip. This time to Europe. The family has decided to join me. We leave tomorrow. It should be fun. Got a bad flu in Vegas. Hope I don't pass it on to everyone and they end up sick in a foreign country (yuck). I will face one of my biggest fears in Belgium......Belgian Chocolate. It is personally accountable for at least 50 of my pre-op pounds. I hope I can resist it or that it makes me so sick I just won't eat it again. I had hoped to shed a few more pounds these last months but I'll consider myself lucky if I don't gain. The only tool I have left is will-power and that's very quetionable at times. Take care all and good luck with any upcoming surgeries.

Unfortunately for me it will be more business then pleasure but it beats sitting at home and my husband and kids will have fun.

Dawn: In the early 70's, I had front row center seats to see Derek and the Dominos - Eric Clapton's post-Blind Faith band (at Louis Sullivan's Auditorium Theater in Chicago - a great place to see a show). The opening act was this new guy from England, Elton John. It was a great show - not as good as Springsteen in 78 or Radiohead in 03, but close to that level. Elton played all of his first US album and a good portion of what was to become Tumbleweed Connection. I saw him 2 times more -- on the Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the River tours. The cost for the Derek and the Dominos/Elton John show - $6.50/ticket. I hear the Vegas show is like $500/ticket. See, life was better long ago! Oh, by the way, the french fries in Belgium are to die for. They have little shops that just sell fries (imagine a starbucks, but for french fries). Don't try them. Cheers! Harbor

I knew french fries actually originated in Belgium but I didn't know that they perfected them. Oh dear, now I have to watch for chocolate and french fries. I'm sure I will taste both but hopefully it will be in small quantities. I think Brussel Sprouts are from Belgium. If I feel the urge to have local food I'll push myself towards the sprouts (yeah, right). By the way, I'm jealous that you saw Elton 3 times. I'll have to catch up! I actually considered seeing him in Vegas a second time before I came home but the day I was able to attend he was not playing. Oh well, hopefully he won't retire any time soon and I'll catch him again.
