BCBS of IL

I just sent an email to my local congressman to see if he could shake things up at the state level for me seeing that this is a state program. They should be able to tell BCBS to waive the 12 month diet. I have a friend that was applying for diasability and the government was dragging their feet. He made the call to the congressman and in a few days he called the state and they approved him. Hopefully this works Mike

Michael, I have BCBS of Illinois and have been writing letters to all of the state officials - governor, senators, house of reps and even the Pres of U.S. I believe if you want something you should speak out. I will be writing letters every week to this group. I am not fighting just for me but for everyone of you. I encourage everyone else to do the same. My argument is - the insurance company is requiring us to do something that we can not accomplish within the policy period. Meaning when the contract is renewed they can change their rules again making it even harder. FIGHT EVERYONE!!!! I believe we should be doing our supervised diet and exercise regimen while we fight - BUT FIGHT!!!!! Good luck everyone! Beth M

NOT as long as BCBS of any state is in business will you are any one else have a chance they will just keep changing the rules and they will almost alway find one way or the other out of covering this kind of surgery. God I hope I am wrong for your sake, but from what I know and what I have read and found out fro others, I have came to the conclusion that BCBS really sucks!!!!!! Currently with all the rest of you in the same hell. My question is does an appeal have any chance of working? Has anyone ever heard of BCBS accepting an appeal on the PPO side?

Mitch I guess that depends on why they denied you. I was told by a friend who was looking into WLS and was told that her ins doesnt cover it. Her policy had an exclusion. She contacted a lawyer that specializes in this type of case and was told that if her policy had an WLS exclusion that there was no way that he could get it for her. She decided to self pay and take out a second mortgage. Good Luck
