So I start my CNA job tonight. 10p-6a. Do I sleep from 8a-3p? or more like 12-7? Its not bad right now, as I only have 1 class, and its at night. However, this summer I have a 6week class thats m-f 8a-noon. Yep, every day. And school is closer to work than to home..so I'll probably just go straight from work at 6a to school at 8a. Maybe I'll grab some breakfast in between. But come fall, I'll be in school probably 3-4 days a week and probably from 8a-2 or 3p When will I sleep then? When will I study? Do I have IDIOT tattooed on my FOREHEAD??? This is whats commonly known as 'biting off more than you can chew' BUT, the hospital pays for my tuition..not sure about books and stuff...but at least the tuition is taken care of. And they do give preference to their employees when they decide who gets scholarship money they offer...so hopefully I'll get that, and it'll take care of the books and incidentals. Any 3rd shift workers have any sage advice??? TX!! xoxo K

Kathy i dont work 3rd shift but I am sure you can do it, I remember when my mom worked the 3rd shift at the hospital and had classes early am... she went to work then school came home and slept... it was grueling but we were all older at the time so that made it easier for her. Good luck Debby

I work third shift... I take maybe an hour nap before work and then maybe four or five hours when I get home.
