Anyone else have trouble with reheated meat?

Hi everyone! I am 16 months post-op. I used to think that buying dinner out would be great because I could re-heat the steak, chicken or whatever as a 2nd or even 3rd meal. NO WAY! If I eat any re-heated meat, I am in the bathroom in 5 minutes and heaving for 10. Any clue as to why? I was thinking it had to do with the grease/fat content being reabsorbed into the meat?? Or am I clueless? My hubby sure loves the leftovers, just wish I could. Canned soup with meat does not effect me like this. Thanks for any advice. Dyanna

Dyanna, reheated meats are something that I really have to be careful with. I have found that microwaves can dry them out in a flash. I have found that putting a splatter cover over the food helps retain the moisture and keeps the steam in. Try reheating the meats on a slower power on the micro for a little longer of a time that helps keep the meat from getting too tough and dry. I basically reheat my leftovers (1/2 cup servings) for about 3 1/2 minutes at 30% power. Hope this helps.

For me personally, I have trouble with reheated meat if its dry. As much as I love chargrilled food (steak, chicken, yummy), I always try to order stuff with sauce, gravy, broth. When I reheat food that I think will lose its moisture, I wet a paper towel and put it over the food and put waxed paper on top and then reheat. It traps the moisture and makes the food go down easier.
