DR. Vaughn anyone???
Hi Polly,
Congrats on your consult with Dr. Vaughn. You're gonna love him!! He's a great doctor. Nikki covered everything about the consult that I can think of. Make sure you bring a list of questions you want to ask him. He will take the time to answer every one of them. If you don't understand something be sure to ask him to explain it. If you have any worries or concerns? ASK! he will make sure to reassure you and explain everything. There is NO question he won't answer and he wants you to be sure and informed about everything.
I had my surgery with Dr. Vaughn on Jan 18th/05. He did a great job with my incision and when I went into the operating room he held my hand the hold time till I was out.
The staff at Barix are GREAT!! They are very caring and want you to feel 100% comfortable while you are there.
Good luck with your consult...say hi to doc for me!!
If you have any questions or just wanna talk about your surgery feel free to e-mail me any time.
I wish you the best on your journey!!
P.S..Hey! I just realized...my 6 week post op is on the same day you have your consult...what time is your appointment? Maybe we'll be there at the same time!
~hugs~
Konni

Konni,
Dr. Vaughn was my surgeon. I cannot say enough good things about him. He is open and honest, pulls no punches, and treated me like a person rather than a case!
I had a consult with a different surgeon first, who has since retired. The difference between the two was like night and day! Dr. Vaughn seems to really be personally vested in his patients. He even answers the 'hard' questions (like mortality rates) openly.
I had my surgery in early October. The staff at Barix was wonderful, helpful and supportive. They have had someone available to speak with me every time I've called with a question.
Good luck - and listen to the advise of those who've suggested that you take a list of questions with. You'll be glad you did. Take notes, and, if possible, take someone else with you. And, don't be afraid to ask the hard questions as well. Information is power!
Polly, as far as I'm concerned, Dr. Vaughn just about walks on water. He's extremely competent, caring, knowledgeable, compassionate, as well as attractive and he makes the shortest incisions around. Brooke and I are both have a 4 in*****ision and you can't beat that. Otherwise, he'll explain everything and then ask if you have questions, and he'll answer anything you want to know.
