On the December board someone posted about having a mini-goal. I've decided my mini-goal is to get down to 229 by my next follow up appointment (March 23rd). Do you have a mini goal?! P.S. I put a new picture in my profile!

When I was new I had mini goals, but no time set to them. I would reward myself with a new hair do or massage. Now, my window of loosing has passed. I made goals to be at certain weights by certain dates and I get dissapointed and even angry at my self for not getting there. My mini goals now include big things really: 1. be able to walk the marathon for the AVON cancer walk in June http://www.avonwalk.org/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=1090&px=1574844 2. raise enough money or get insurance to pay for PS. I want to do it in July. 3. eat healthier I have been stuck at the same weight for almost a year. Now I am gaining and loosing the same 5 pounds. It is really frustrating.

I've had to change my way of thinking about mini-goals, because I've realized that giving myself NUMBERS for goals is depressing me!!! My first goal was 75 lbs by Christmas... well, that came and went, and right now I'm just now at 75 lbs... so, I decided that it's the 'non scale victories' that I need to depend on and focus on! One major one for me - I no longer have to use the seat belt extender in our cars!!!!! This is WONDERFUL!!!!! And, if I ride in a friend's car, I no longer have to worry and then be embarrassed about their seat belt not fitting me!!! You're doing GREAT, Brooke! I'm going to check out your new pic now! Have a great weekend! Katie

I just took my extender out too!! It's funny though I think driver's seat belts are shorter than passengar ones... have you noticed that?

Oh yeah! No kidding!!! Especially I've found that in forgein cars... I drive a Hyundai... and unfortunatley they don't even believe in MAKING extenders for thier cars... so, for quite a while, I was breaking the law, or 'faking it' by pulling the belt across me and making it look like I had it on. So, now I'm not only safe, I can be legal!!!

Brooke, You know, being MO, we ignore the numbers for so long...because its so painful. Then, after surgery, we become obsessed with them, which is just as unhealthy;) DONT get caught up in the numbers. Dont freak if you cant lose that last 5lbs. Do you feel good? Are your labs healthy? Do you have energy? Isnt THAT why we had surgery? Youre doing great, kiddo...dont get discouraged!
