How did you feel 2.5 weeks out???
Hi! My BF and I have a booth at Kane County Flea and Collectable market the first weekend of every month. We sell gourmet BBQ sauces, seaoning, mustards and other gourmet items. My surgery is the 14 of March.
Our booth is VERY busy and we are on our feet most of 2 days. I know I will not be 100% yet and should not lift things such as boxes. What other things should I look out for. I do not want to get a hernia and probably will get one of the teens I know to help us that weekend.
Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks!
Peggy
Peggy I dont know if you want to hear how I was feeling, I keep getting from others YOUR NOT NORMAL.... anyway I refused pain meds when I got up into my ICU room right after surgery because I didnt need them, then I was ready to go back to work 2 days after surgery... I would have if the Doctor had said yes... Make sure no matter how good your feeling you wear your binder I wore mine to work for a few weeks, Make sure you have a chair and sit down a lot to relax...
Good Luck... where's Kane county and is this a big flea market? I am a flea market freak and we just dont have any big ones around here..

Peggy..
2 1/2 weeks out I was feeling pretty good.. but my stamina was not 100% yet.. I'd feel great.. go out and do something.. then be out and suddenly get exhausted and have to drag myself home to sleep..
Be gentle with yourself.. BE there.. yes.. but maybe ask another friend you trust to come with you that weekend and help out a little with customers... You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for all the feedback! I expect to feel exhausted and not 100 % so if I feel great... wonderful!!! If not.. I'm not disappointed! lol I will have several people with us and a chair plus we have the van If I need to get away for awhile!
I don't plan to lift anything so... just need to be there!
Gotta run... kids are calling! Have a great nite!!!!

Peggy, That binder was a life saver. It was unfortable to wear but it was a relife to put it back on. I wore my binder for 6-7 weeks. I would wear it sometimes after that just because it felt better to have it on at times. It gave me more support. How did i feel 2 weeks out. I felt like poo. I was so sore. I had open. What type are you having? It takes much longer to
heal and get around when you have open. It took me a good 6 weeks to
get around good. I hurt alot. Anyway, Everyone is diffrent when it comes to pain and healing. Your body will let you know how far to go. Take a chair with you so you can get off your feet when you need to. You will still need your rest at 2 weeks. You might find yourself getting over tierd.
Let your hubby and the teen to do most of the work. But, You are the only one that will know how far you can go. Good Luck with your surgery and recovery. Debra
