Vitamins
Hey! I'm going to go tomorrow to get my vitamins and protein drinks for after my surgery. Dr. O says flintstone chewables for the first 6 weeks, I was wondering if it would be alright to get like adult chewable multiviatmins?
Also, what is the best tasting protein drink to get? I thought about getting some of the whey protein, but not sure on the grit factor. I dont want to drink something that tastes like chalk. I though about getting like vanilla and the one that I can mix into my broths etc.
Any input would be appreciated!! thanks!!

Hi Lora! I have my vitamins bought already too! I found some at Meijer...not sure if there is one down that way yet. I just ordered some samples of some of the Nectar one's so should have those any day. I'll let you know how they are once I get them!
I graduated from SIUC and love it down there! Many wonderful memories and great friendships! I have been wanting to take my boys camping down there as it is so beautiful! A good friend's mom owns the Marion Toyota so not far from you at all! I'm actually going out with some old college buddies this weekend! I always know that these amazing men are who helped me become the person I am today! I just love them! Such a wonderful thing to have such great people in one's life!!!!
Have a great evening!

Hi Peggy! No, we dont have a Meijer's down here. I think I'm going to go to Vitamin World. I talked to the girl on the phone and she was telling me that if I spend 50.00 or more, I get 25% off my purchase. I'm all for deals, so thats where I'm going to go..lol
Yes, it is beautiful down here. I'm originally from New Lenox but have been down here for 17 yrs(maybe 18) I've lost count. We get up that way usually one or 2 times a year, and I could NEVER live back up there. I love my country living, etc.
If you ever get down this way, give me a holler! Maybe we could meet up and chat. I cant wait to go camping this summer. I was just talking about that to my mom yesterday. Its almost that time again. yeahhhh..lol
Take care!
My doc also suggests using the powdered milk and adding that to the Carnation which I know I'll do too. I was wondering the benefits of that versus the protein drinks...besides the price. lol I worry about spending the money on an entire tub of something and finding it is terrible!
Have a great day!
powdered milk
I know its something we have to get used to, I normally just use it when I'm cooking. I'm not sure of the benefits, possibly less calories??
I hear ya with the protein drinks, scares me spending 25+ on something if I'm not going to like it. I've been thinking about ordering samples off of some of the sites that have been listed before and just trying them out to see what I like.
Hi Lora,
My doc also stated Flinstones (w/Iron) complete. When I compared what was in Flinstones to Centrum chewable and other chewable ones, Flinstones was actually better! I did however find one Chewable one that had a bit more than Flinstones and they taste the same (good IMO). They are called 'TRUEBASICS Childrens chewable vitamins- Complete' I 'think' I got this at Meyers or Dominicks- I don't remember! I am still taking chewables because I have ulcers and the other vitamins I was taking were too big.
Re: Protein. Don't go off of your tastebuds now! Mine changed after and continue to change even now regarding protein drinks. I cannot tolerate them when I could prior, and prior I thought they tasted good. Now I gag on all that I have purchased. The best one I know of for directly post op is ISOPURE. Check Fruitful Yield, Vitamin Shoppe or GNC (GNC most expensive). I get them already pre-made; for a 20 oz bottle it's 40 grams of protein.
I also tried the supposed 'unflavored' in which they stated it can be cooked with- not so. They still taste like vanilla. The only thing that they worked in so far with me was sweet-tasting BAKED items. In liquid form they were disgusting, but baked was OK.
Hope this helps!
