OK gona vent here.I called Ann at Dr.O's office and asked her if she has heard anything about insurance approval and she said well they wont approve me til i have my psych evaluation i told her i already had ti back in March or April 2004 she said well we havent got it(Grrrrrrrr)So i call up the place i had it done and they tell me that they cant find my folder and tried to patch me into the guy that had done it but he wont call me back im like WTF!So i call the superviser and she was like il try to find it for you and that she thinks it has to be done by a licensed psychatrist(sorry spelling..lol)OMG!!(Pulling out hair)I call Ann and asked her she said no the mental place was fine they dont have to be licensed(she thinks)I hate when they say that at the end . Does anyone know what you have to have as far as when you have the psych goes?I have IDPA..

Chandra: Most generally the physc evaluation can be done by a licensed therapist. They do have to be licensed though. This is a lower version than a physchiatrist (sp) The only differnce between the two is that the therapist can not prescribe medication. You need to check with your bariatric office to see if they take just the therapist...Most generally the two places I have been involved with only needed licensed therapists. Sorry to hear about all your troubles, It seems like this is just not an easy process and of course when it comes to insurance company's they make nothing easy about all of this. Hang in there it is worth the battle. Ramona

My eval was done by a psychologist, not a psychiatrist, and everything went fine, except they took 3 weeks to send it in! Good Luck!

Chandra- I believe that you have to go to a psychologist. That is what I did, and let me tell you, I could NOT find one here in southern Illinois that would accept a medical card. I also called over to Cape because a lady from Murphy said that is where she went and they accepted the medical card. Well, they no longer do. I ended up going to Dr. Plumb in Carbondale. I had to self pay(150.00) but I called on a monday and had an appointment on Wed(Dec 3). They are great. Monika is the one who did my eval as she is also able to do it. Her husband is Gordon Plumb. I'm sorry your having such a hard time with getting the psych eval straightened out. If there is anything else I can do, or try to help you with, let me know and I'll try my best. Good Luck!!
