Approval Phone Call?

Okay I am a little confused! On Friday my PCP referal coordinator left a vm on my phone saying I have been approved to see the surgeon.... But what does that mean? Do I now leave this in the hands of the surgeon? Or do I keep pursuing it on my own, bugging the insurance and my PCP...etc... I do have a regular appt w/my PCP tomorrow. I was going to wait and ask her, but wanted to know if anyone else had this come up? I have HMO BCBS IL soooo wasn't sure about this one! Thanks in advance! xoxoxojenn

I would just call the person who called you and ask her what that means. Good Luck!!! Debby

It probably literally means that they approved your PCP's referral to a surgeon. I would assume that you'd have to follow up with both doctors' offices and insurance to make sure your paperwork is processed timely.

I'd also make sure that something is writing gets to you and/or your surgeon.

Urgh....I called up the PCP office. Its just a referal to see the surgeon for 1 visit to get an assessment and to see the dietician! Darn it....! I wanted it to be so much more!!! Did anyone have this happen? So now what I don't understand is: Is it up to the Surgeon now? Or still in the hands of my PCP...I see her tomorrow...I guess I can ask her..
