Hi! My surgery is set for 3/14 and know I need to go off the pill. I'd rather not use just condoms and wanted to know if anyone used the patch or Depo. Weight gain is one concern I have heard is an issue with Depo. The Patch... I know nothing of. If I go Depo....maybe I will do it for just the first 3 months then switch. Boy, so many B/C types out there now... have been on the pill for years so this is all new info to me! But sure do not want any surprises! I left a message for Dr. Klem today so waiting to hear back! Hi! My surgery is scheduled for April 5th and I've been thinking about the same thing. right now, I'm on the depo shot. I've talked to my pcp and I'm going to stay on that until after I have my surgery. I'm seriously considering getting an IUD. They are good for 5 years and if you decided that you want to have a baby before then, they can take it out for you. Since I really,really dont want anymore kids(hubby does) I've considered the IUD. Look up info on the IUD before you have it placed. If I'm not mistaken, there are post-removal pregnancy issues associated with it.

Kathy some GYN's wont do a IUD after WLS because of how your body is changing, that its hard to fit one correctly... I had my tubes tied 15 years ago and now peri menopausal so I dont worry!! (of course I dont have sex either so it just doesnt matter) LOL Debby

Abstinence is not an option! lol I had thought of the IUD so would have to check out the removal issue brought up. I do not plan on having anymore either I'm very happy with my two and am too busy to have another with my job and our gourmet sauce and catering business! Peggy I just posted to Kathy about the IUD, some GYN"s wont do one after WLS surgery because of how your body is changing... Good luck with whatever you decide.... Debby
