Hi! I am 7 months post op and my hair has really thinned out. I am a little hysterical at the moment. I had great hair. What are the suggestions? I know I do not get enough protein each day. I hate any of the mixes and gag when I try the drinks. I also eat very very small amounts of food and a very limited variety. I seem to have two or three good days and then throw up! YUK! Seriously, I am down 118 lbs. but when the weight slows down I have no where to cut! There are days I wonder if I had to do it over again if I would. Please give me some suggestions and some uplifting thoughts. I appreciate any answers. Sheryl

Sheryl, At the support group meeting last night, one of the nurses that's had the surgery, Judy, said that the only thing you can really do is make sure and get your protein. It's going to happen, but at least the protein keeps it from being any more severe than it already is. Try doing the protein in smaller batches at a time and see if it goes down any easier. Also, try it with milk and ice in the blender, so it's more like a shake. Terry

Sheryl, I have the same problem with protein. My nutritionist suggested I eat nuts, this is helping. Also, I eat a lot of cottage cheese. Our medical office suggests the shampoo Niocin for the thinning hair. I haven't personally tried it yet, but know of others who say it really works. I live in Joliet and the only place I have heard to buy it is the salon at J. C. Penney's. Good Luck. Mert
