BC/BS HMO IL requirements?

Hi, I had open RNY 12/02 approved my bc/bs hmo with no problems. Now my husband is looking into it, and I know bc/bs hmo has changed it's stance on wls since then. Does anyone know the new requirements? It's Fri night, so we wont' be able to talk with anyone at bc/bs until Monday and were just trying to get some info before then. He is a diabetic with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. His bmi is 35. Thanks, Kristy L

Hi Kristy Go to bcbsil.com and click on the "providers" tab. Next go to "medical policies". Look for Surgery for Morbid Obesity. Good luck Tracy

I know that they require a 12 months supervised diet with a doctor and records of your weight for the last 5 years. But, going to their website will help you out alot! Good luck, Tricia
