Can you take pills?
The reason I ask is I was at the surgeons yesterday (read previous post)
I forgot to ask him if I could atleast take my synthroid orally without breaking it up taking this very important pill has become a HUGE issue with me... OF COURSE I will call Dr. Fred before I do anything but i am curious as to what your surgeon has said, I have read a few say that their surgeon says that they can take pills So if you do what are you taking and is it a capsule or a pill?
I think it will be interesting to see what our different surgeons say. After I talk to mine I will let you know what he says.

Stef are you still taking it... I was taking 2 a day plus 2 reglan a day, and various other pills they prescribed for a total of 16 pills for my stomach per day, I was sent to Barnes Jewish for a study, they even wrote my case up in the AMA journals.. LOL
Well 6 weeks out I take nothing for my stomach I hardly ever have heartburn anymore.!!!
I am down from 17 pills a day to ONE! which I will have to take the rest of my life since i have thyroid disease although my family doc says that my weight could have caused the thyroid problems and It could reverse itself...
Anyway just wanted to share!! and thanks for the response..

Debby,
For about a month after my surgery, I put my levoxyl (same as synthroid) in a little water and it dissolved instantly. After that, I started just swallowing it.
And at 2 months, I started swallowing vitamins (hated chewables). Just check to make sure the vitamins will dissolve in water in a short period of time. We have significantly less acid in our stomachs now, so plain water is a good test. If it doesn't dissolve in water within 1/2 hour, don't take it. Otherwise, you'll just have expensive poop.
Anything you can get in gelatin capsules are OK to take. My dry E, calcium citrate, and Bcomplex/C are all in gelatin capsules (from vitalady.com).
Good luck!
