How soon did you have pureeds post-op?

OK, well, mom is going home today and for breakfast they brought her chopped up scrambled eggs. She had surgery MONDAY?! I was on CLEAR LIQUIDS for 2 weeks, FULL LIQUIDS for 2 weeks THEN pureeds. I'm not saying I lasted that long but I was supposed to. Isn't 3 days post op a bit soon for pureeds???? Also, they let her take pills. She's even taken pills already. Maybe I'm overprotective but does this sound right to you guys???

hmmmm?...I was told the same thing....two weeks clears...two weeks full and then pureeds. When I asked why so long for each they told me that it was because the stomach was very sensitive and in the healing stage...I wonder why they wouldnt think the same for your mom? I am taking one pill...an antacid pill they perscribed...they told me anything thats smaller than an M&M is fine to take....hmmmmm....now I'm gonna have to call them and ask if that includes vitamins lol......anyway...I don't think you are being overprotective...I would question that too seeing as everyone else seems to be on the same eating schedule as you and your mom's is WAY sooner then others. Hi ya. I was taking pills as soon as I left the hospital - day 4 I guess it would've been. I do know of some people who were eating soft foods pretty much immediately post-op as well. If you want me to link you to their profiles or email addys just shout.

NO PILLS!! Friend of mine almost died IN the hospital...nurse gave her a pain killer in pill form and it got stuck!! She was seriously in a coma FOREVER!! (Huge lawsuit!) I'm scared for her!! NO MAMEN!

Biscuit, I think it really depends on the doctor.. some keep people on fluids for three months! soft foods for 6... I think if she's taking it well.. and they monitor her, she'll be fine.. And you know how it works.. if pouchy don't like it.. she'll be the first to know! She has to follow her surgeon's orders.. just like you were *supposed to* follow yours! you're obsessing now.. you need a night at the movies!! Stef
