Hi All, I had my week post-op appt. yesterday in ST. Louis. Actually it was 8 days but why split hairs. I am doing well. The pain in my side is increasing. If I hold my side in with my hand it feels better. Dr. told me it would last a few weeks (just like Jason told me). Anyway my angel, Lori mentioned a binding to wear? Anyone ever wear one? I am fine when I sit down. It is when I stand or walk. Thanks, Pam 256/235

Congrats Pamela! I have a binder...they give them to you at the hosptial and EXPECT you to wear it for a few weeks. I have mine off at times now because for me it feels better without it but I wear it when I sleep so I don't pull anything. I'm not sure where you can get one if you didnt get it from the hospital. I would assume at a medical supply store???...maybe someone else will know that answer...sorry I couldn't help more. I hope your pain gets better soon! ~hugs~ Konni

I loved my binder for several weeks following my surgery. I weaned myself off of it by not wearing it during the day for several hours but wanted that added security in case I rolled over funny or something during the night. I'd really look into getting one! Keep up the great work! Cathy

Pam, First of all CONGRATULATIONS!! Sounds like you're doing great.. Second.. was your surgery Lap or Open? Mine was lap and I asked my doctor about a binder.. he told me because of the incisions (they are lateral, not vertical), the binder can cause more pain and force the incisions back open.. I had a problem with my "overhang" after surgery and I wanted a binder sooooo baaaaddddd.. it hurt to stand or walk.. I felt like I had to hold my side or my overhang.. then one day it was gone.. like *POOF* gone. If it's bugging you a lot, stay off your feet a little bit.. still do your walking every hour.. but not much else, if you can.. give it a chance to heal up.. Stef

Thanks Stef, Mine was lap. And I do have to push in my side when I walk or stand. Makes it hard to walk like that. Guess I have to suck it up. Thanks again
