PLEASE HELP ME!

I have been searching and searching for a baratric surgeon in the are somewhere around Great Lakes who has done Lap RNY and accepts Tricare Prime. I had surgery 14 months ago. I just need to have follow up care. I have looked all over this website but I can't find a doctor that has done Lap RNY and accepts Tricare and I have went to my insurance company and they are NO way any help. They tried to send me to a general surgeon in Louisville, KY!!!! I know there are military who have had the surgery in this area. Please let me know who your surgeons were. I am willing to drive where ever I need to but NOT to KY! Any help would be great. I have been looking for the last 2 months and haven't gotten anywhere w/it. HELP!!!! Jeannie 244/122

I know it's pretty far, but have you called Hines? They are a bigger hospital than great lakes. Also have you tried the University of Chicago and Rush downtown. A friend of mine has a sister that is military and needed some place that took her military insurance. Those two places do. Good luck!

Try Rush Med Center, Univ of Il. Hospital, Univ of Chicago Hospital, Loyola, Northwestern, Evanston, those are the only ones I would trust. Your insurance company should know who you can go to. Rush is pretty good and pretty open to almost every insurance. Good Luck

Thanks so much. You would think that my insurance company would have a clue but they don't. i have spent hours on the phone with them and half of the people don't even know what a bariatric surgeon is!

Jeanie, I had surgery 17 months out and went thru Tri Care or Champus. I went with Suburban surgical care 847-255-9697. They have office in Elk Grove and Arlington Hts. May want to try and see if they still accept that insurance. I'm now on a different program and I no longer see them my self. They even offer a friday night support group. Joanne

I am not tricare or champus but I am a patient of Suburban Surgical (Dr. Kane Jr.) and they are AWESOME!! Their aftercare is incredible! Stef
