I would like to know why they are called "The purist in the world" And what are the long term studies of the vitamin? Gracias!

There was an expose/story by some newspaper posted on the main board a few months ago. It claimed that Vitamist was a total scam. I threw all my samples away. My health is too important - I don't want to take vitamins that may not be effective.

I know I read it. It made me very leery too. I havent seen a counter-story yet though. When I see "pure" I think spring water. I'd like to know how they came up with that. On the web site they have a little bit of info, but there is a disclamer that its not approved by the FDA, so thats why I ask.

No vitamins or health "supplements" are approved by the FDA they are trying to get control over that...

A lot of people posted about that news paper and how it is a rag type. The doctor who was quoted in the article even spoke out against the newspapers total fabrication of what he had said. My brother lives near where it was published and said its more a tabloid. I use Vitamist and my levels are great, due to my thyroid disease I have to get my blood checked monthly and my doctor checks to be sure there are no vitamin deficiencies and he's now recommending vitamist because he see's the outstanding results with me. With a very good friend of mine being a pharmacist and my brother who is a doctor both saying they recommend them thats good enough for me. Of course everyone is gonna believe what they want and there will be others who claim you can't absorb stuff through your mouth... tell my dad that who uses Nitro for his heart!! But this is purely personal you take what you want and what works for you. I researched that story and the aftermath stories... I will stick with my vitamist!! Debby

Well, if you read the ENTIRE article you would have found a little more information. They are NOT a scam and I have the labs to prove it. The vitamins have helped MANY people. The article was on ONE PARTICULAR PRODUCT and not the multi, B12 or the other 50+ products they have. And how is ONE article the gospel?

I'm putting on my flame suit as I write this... About a month ago on the main message board there was an article posted about the ineffectiveness of the Vitamist spray vitamins. I sent the article to my surgeon's assistant nurse who showed it to the hospital pharmacist (or something like that) and he agreed that the likelihood of these vitamins making it into the system from the mouth were very slight. The article basically said don't waste your money. And since vitamins are crucial to the health of a WLS person, why take the risk? Since we have enough vitamins built up in our systems from before surgery to hold us the first year, I'd want to see labs from a WLS person who's 2 or more years out and has been taking these vitamins for the whole time. That's the only way to know. Just my opinion... Deb

Deb I love my vitamist I have been using them for a year now... and so far no problems, yes I am only 3 weeks out from surgery but I started taking them last year and very happy... But we all do what is best for us and its great to have something whether its a spray or pill that works for you Debby

Well, if you can't get vitamins through the mouth how does sublingual work?

Not only sublingual but my dad takes nitro for his heart DEAR GOD I better alert him that stuff doesnt absorb ..... how dare the medical community make patients pay for this and it doesnt work... it must act as a placebo??? OK i' have had my fun... you do what is right for you, my blood work for the past year is all the proof i need not some tablioidish newspaper artical that no one bothered to look for the 8 stories written after it about how the reporter lied... I personally; as I am sure everyone else should do, is go with what your doctor recommends you to take.... But then thats my opinion...
