Our clinic really pushes the Vista Vitamins made for bariatric patients. They come in chewables and capsules. I have to admit - I hate them. The chewables taste crappy, and you have to take so many of them. Then, the capsules - you have to take 8 a day!!!! Urgh, but I do it because I have to. They are available online or through some pharmacies - the pharmacies in the hospitals here in Springfield carry them. However, any vitamin at this point since your pre-op is beneficial. Many other surgeons suggest pre-natals, or even chewable Flinstones just to make sure you get them in.

Katie get Melissa/Biscuit to send you a free sample of the vitamist spray, they dont taste like candy but they are not bad, I just spray 8 quick sprays a day in my mouth and I"m set.. When they did my blood work the Surgeon asked me what vitamins I was taking cause my levels looked excellent... Debby

Dear Pamela Didi your doctor not suggest any type of vitamins, especially post op? My doctor said prior to surgery to take a good multivitamin. Post op we take 2 chewable multivit with iron, B1 (thiamine), and b12 sublingually. After my one month visit he said to start biotin and keep up the rest. I don't have to do chewables anymore but I am going to finish the bottle. I would call my doctors office and find out more info from them. Have a great day!! Andrea

Pamela I take Vitamist vitamins they are spray vitamins and are formulated for bariatric patients. They dont taste bad, they have a woman's formula and the B-12 , I"m getting ready to add their cold formula cause it happens to have the ingredients we need to help our hair loss issues. I buy them mail order and they just send them through mail for me every month and I dont have to worry. Yes they are a little more expensive but considering how great my blood work is I wont change to anything else. Melissa aka Biscuit is my rep for them so if you want info on them you can ask her. I did try chewables but I had issues with those causing heartburn.. Talk to your doctor see what he says.... or recommends... Good luck!! Debby

Thanks for the Spam Debs! Yes, I am the Illinois rep for Vitamist. I LOVE their products. Since taking them I have levels out the roof and I have not gotten ONE cold this season. That is worth it right there. You can check their site vitamist.com or email me for information. They also have a Protein Drink that is THE BOMB!!!! 50 cal and 10g of protein per 5-6oz. (You mix the powder so you make it as many oz as you want) supercalpro.com But feel free to email me with any questions or to get an order out. Thanks Melissa Lap RNY 8/31/04 398/299/190
