Actually Awake
Hi Terry,
Whats going on girl? This is a board for support and encouragement and we are all interested in whats happening with you. Please don't be afraid to post how you are feeling, NO one should be flaming you because of that. Nothing you say about what you are experiencing should be considered whinning hon....maybe someone else has or is going through the same thing and you could get some good suggestions or advice on how to handle it. I personally am very interested in knowing how everyone is doing...the good AND the bad. So come on girl di**** out....we can take it .....
~hugs~

P.S If you really feel more comfortable not posting here e-mail me and vent hon...I'm still post-op so I haven't experienced all this yet but I'm sure here for ya if you need an ear!
Thanks, I really do appreciate it. It just seems that I'm in such a funk. I'm snapping at my husband, I don't want to drink another g%dd##n shake, I want to EAT something. I'm still sore and so tired but I feel like such a loser if I take my pain meds because I read on here that everyone stopped their meds after one week. My husband says that I know better, some people exaggerate, and the rest are the silent majority. But I can't help how I feel, and I know in my heart that it's after effects of general anesthesia, open surgery and total plumbing reroute. I tell myself everyday that it will get better, but it's sure taking a long time. If anyone out there can tell me that what I'm feeling is typical, it would surely help.
Terry
Everyone is different Terry. Some people are lucky enough to just breeze right through this and some have a harder time. I have a friend in Ohio who had the surgery and on her third day in the hospital she was in, she walked down the street and had her hair done ....I could NOT believe it!!...she didnt have any complications and was trying all kinds of different foods I think 3-4 weeks after surgery. She went back to work and started right up on working all kinds of overtime. She said she felt drained but that was to be expected considering the hours she was working so soon after surgery. She considers herself very lucky to have had it so easy. Then I have read stories about people *****ally suffered with so many complications and then even more stories just like yours. Look at Brooke for example. She is having difficulty with energy and seems to want to sleep a lot. I think one of the things I read most is that some women seem to have problems for a few weeks bouncing back with energy or they have problems with their hormones being messed up. I truly believe what you are feeling right now is a common thing and don't forget you just had major surgery. Give YOUR body time to heal itself and don't compare yourself to how others say they did. Take the pain meds if you need them...there is NO shame in that...just because others said they didnt need them doesn't mean there arent plenty of people out there that needed them longer. Don't push yourself to be on some kind of schedule...do whatever Dr. Vaughn told you to do...if you feel really bad CALL him...tell him how you are feeling and let him advise you. Maybe you are lacking something right now and your body is trying to tell you that...b12?...iron?...im not sure...but call them and don't feel bad about it.
It IS going to get better...I have read that and I have to believe it or else there is no way I could go and have this done on the 18th. I really do think what you are going through is typical for some...maybe not exactly the same...because everyone reacts different...but your body is healing and the things you talked about surely are part of that healing after major surgery. Gets LOTS of rest....walk as much as you can...do whatever the doc told you to when it comes to fluids...TAKE your pain meds if you need them AND don't be so hard on yourself hon!!
I'll be thinking about ya and hoping you are feeling better soon!

Hi Terry
I just ran across your post here, hope you don't mind me throwing my .02 in! What you're feeling is soooo typical! I actually didn't post on here until well after my surgery but lurked a LOT. I certainly didn't stop my pain meds at a week out either! I was a crabby butt on a daily basis ... some of that is just my general nature, yes, but some of it was all of the hormones, changes, etc., going on too I think. Please don't hesitate to post here for support or answers ... if someone flames you for that, they need to rethink their motivations for being here. Yes, it WILL get better but until it does, you just give us a shout any time you want or need to girl!

Terry, You are not alone, thats exactly how I was feeling. Sick of being restricted on what I can or can't eat. I was sitting around waiting to be thin. Tired of trying to get all that damn protein in. I took my pain meds up until my two week visit, so don't feel bad if you keep taking yours. It feels lonely sometimes, it's hard to get used to. You are an awesome person and you are going to overcome this. I hope to see you Monday!
Brooke
I'm the same way.I am having to find things to do so i don't go crazy.Thin after that i'm so tired the rest of the day.I want to eat something i hate the shakes. I have 3 different flavors of whey(gross)I can't stand any of them..I'm to try to get 100 grams of protein in a day i think yesterday i hit 70 grams.I had some soup with little bits in it everyday for the last 4 no problems yet i havn't threw u***** runs.i'm ready to try a little something else any suggestions? Before i go nuts.I'm still taking my meds 1 to 2 times a day.more for my back.i used to take vicidens but i can't take them anymore so i have to take something for my back.I'm hopeing to advoid sugery by losing weight.same with my knee.So terry your not the only one.You should try having 4 kids who are eating all the time. It's real tuff. Thanks for listening jeff
