Approved
Hi ,
I am new to all of this. I have been coming here for about a year and learning from everyone. I consulted with Dr Van Wagner in ST. Louis in November. I was approved for surgery today. I will be having the lap rny. It has happened fast for me. I was denied last year and took it as a sign from God that He wasn't ready for me to do this yet.......well, Thank You God for being ready for me now.
I could sure use any encouragement and advice available.
Thanks much,
Pamela Hager
Alright Pam!!! When the time is right, things fall into place!! I'm so happy for you!! Here's my 2 cents worth: take it slow. Be patient with your body and give it time to heal. That doesn't mean to lay around like a big slug, because that actually makes you feel worse. It means slowly increase activity until you're back to your old self. It'll take you a good 4 weeks, and most of us aren't used to being down that long, despite the reputation of being, "laid back, lazy fat jolly folks". If you just go with the flow but keep active, you'll do great!! I developed a love affair with loading the dishwasher-- it's not a lengthy or messy chore, nothing's too heavy, it needs to be done anyway, and it only takes 15 min. Right after surgery, it was the perfect length job, and helped me to stretch out all my muscles so I didn't get stiff. Hope this helps!! Feel free to contact me for advice or help.
I too had a door close on me for surgery in 2002. And in retrospect I saw it as God not feeling that I was ready for having WLS at that time. I have a bowel disease and God knew that I needed to get that problem under control before he would open the window that I would be able to go through to have my surgery. He is amazing when we His children will just recognize that fact.
