? concerning birth control
I switched primary care doctors today(long story, read my profile after I update it..lol) and started going to a different one.
We were talking about my upcoming gastric bypass surgery and I was telling her that I was on the depo shot.
She told me that it is not recommended for anyone over 180 lbs. I've never heard of that EVER and now she's got me scared to death. She told me I would be a good candidate for an IUD, and I'm all for it. I dont want anymore kids, but the thought of getting my tubes tied is just too final. My question is this..
She cannot insert the IUD until I clear it with Dr. Oliphant.(no problem). Would there be any reason for him not to ok me having one prior to surgery? I really dont want to end up pregnant and dont really want to use condoms(I'm married for goodness sakes..lol). Does anyone know? Its going to kill me to wait until tomorrow so I just thought I'd ask ya'lls input on this.
Thanks!!
Lora
I don't know about before surgery but I have had my iud for over a year and it is the best and once it is in you don't have to worry about it just check or have hubby every couple months to make sure it is in the right place. I don't see why it would be a promblem because it is very low/none hormone. and it is better then sterilization? Don't ask me how but that is what my ob/gyn said!! good luck
Lora I have 2 friends on he depo shot and hey are well over 180. One of my friends is a total sexaholic with her husband and it works great... I think I would call a GYN to be sure or do some research on the net before i switched birth control especially to the insert kind ICKY!

I didnt see anywhere that it said that about weight... wash U the last link did a study on it. there might be someone or an email link where you can email them and ask them or call planned parenthood see what they say...
Yeah, I thought the weight thing was really wierd too. I've been online looing all morning at different sites about the shot and NOWHERE do I see where it says anything about a certain weight limit for it.
I'm through with having the kids(3 is more than enough for me) BUT I'm afraid to make that FINAL decision with getting my tubes tied. But my brother is getting married and they are tryiing to have a little one, so I'll have a neice/nephew to play with and spoil.
What to do, what to do. I would hate to end up preggers after losing all the weight and after plastic surgery just to stretch my skin out again. Ughh..lol
How's the weight loss with you Debby? Things going good?
Well you are a bit younger than me I had my tubes tied at 25 and never regretted it as a matter of fact I am SO GLAD I DID IT!... of course now that I never have sex it doesnt really matter LOL but its a personal choice to have a tubal make sure your hub is on board if you decide to...
I'm down 35lbs and I hit a plateau which is normal so i'm not freaking out about it.... I'm going to the mall later today to walk unless it truely gets warmer here then I will go to the park...
I have some protien powder from my son that is chocolate flavor so I'm going to make a "coffee mocha cappacino" today with it. It's my own recipe so we'll see how it comes out, if its good I will pass it along to you..
I hang out on the lap band board alot more. But everything is going great! Last time I weighed myself I was just over 3 months out and I had lost 20lbs. Which isn't bad for the lap band, 1-2lbs a week. Of course it could be better if I could just get my lazy butt into an exercise routine!!! But otherwise I'm happy. How have you been???
