Hi! I am a patient of Dr. Frantzides (6 months post op--106 lbs lost) but I am not getting even close the the amount of protein that I need. The doctor has said that I am now at the crucial time when protein and vitamin deficiencies can start to show and take a toll on me. I am VERY SENSITIVE to both the taste of some of the protein drinks and to sugar substitues. I need help from those of you that have been there. What can you suggest I try. I know some of this is a matter of taste, but I would really like some help. Thank you.

I like EAS Advant Edge protein shakes, the chocolate especially. It has only 100 calories for 11 oz and 15 g of protein, there isn't any sugar or substitute in it. You can get them at Osco, I think that they come 4 to a case, I cannot remember what they cost because I buy them by the case at Sam's. I think that they are somewhere around $30 for a case of 24. You might be able to get a single container at GNC to try them.

Sheryl, Hi I'm Kathy and also a pt of Dr. Frantzides. I'm 16mos post and -112 @ goal. Both Dr. and Karen are proponents of getting your protein through food instead of supplements. You should be eating tuna, eggs, cheeses, etc for protein. If you do this, its easy to get in your required dailys Add cheese to EVERYTHING!! Tuna w/cheese, eggs w/cheese....CHEESE w/cheese You'll get it...and you'll FEEL better, too Feel free to email me any time!! Wishing you continued success! Kathy/Dixie

Well I'm still on the full liquids stage, but I've just discovered heaven!! It was in the binder of recipies... it's called "Verry Berry" it's like a smoothie... but it's so good! (and I'm picky) This is the recipe! 1/2 cup skim milk 5 strawberries frozen (no added sugar) 1/4 cup of rasberries frozen (no added sugar) 1/4 cup vanilla yougurt no added sugar 2 scoops of whey protein, natural whey proten (I used vanilla) I put it in my magic bullet blender (thanks Judy it was a great investment) 45 seconds. (and I had to strain it through a mesh strainer cause I'm still a full liquid) It has dun dun dun 340 calories 45 grams of protein 3 grams of fat not too shabby considering I only need 62 grams of protein a day.... I'm sure yours is something similar. I only made a half of shake because the full one was too big! Good Luck... I"ll give you more recipes as I test them if you want? Brooke

Hi Sheryl! I too am a patient of Dr. Frantzides - congrats on your weight loss. I am 11 1/2 months out and down 145 pounds. It took me a long time to find a protein supplement that worked that I could tolerate. I tried Unjury Unflavored Protein. It is available only online and they do sell samples of it. Go to www.unjury.com. It can be mixed with anything - alone there are 20 grams of protein and only 80 calories. Karen has looked at the package and said that it was good. I mix it with Starbucks Mocha Frappucino Light Coffee and you would never know that there was a protein powder in it. I hate the taste of the others and most of them made me dump. If you have any questions - email me. - Marla
