Today
I have a huge headache right now... ouch but I only have excedrin so looks like I'm going to have to deal with it.
Well I got to the clinic and went in the emergency door like they told me to. I stopped at the desk and signed about a million papers saying I would pay my bill (which comes out to a total of $150).
Then it was off to the lab... they gave me this cup with this huge funnel on it to pee it ha ha. The lab lady sent me to my room where the dietician came in right away. She told me that it would be six weeks before I ate solid food after the surgery. The diet broke down like this:
(days are days after surgery)
2-6 Clear Liquid
7-20 Full Liquid
21 - 34 Pureed Foods
35 - 41 Soft foods
and 42+ whatever I tolerate
Then the lab lady came and got me for the dreaded blood gas test. She first took some vials of my blood she tried to get it out of my right arm, but there was too much scar tissue so she had to get it out of my left (2 *****s at this point) then it was time for the blood gas test.. she tried in the right wrist first, but couldn't get it... it wasn't that bad. Then she tried the left wrist.. it hurt some but not horrible. Then it started to bubble up... so she pushed the bubble back down! It hurt and it's really bruised, but I'm not bitter.
Then I was given a gown and told to take off my shirt and bra.. gasp!
Then the nurse came in and talked to me about pain management and different patient issues.... we got into a conversation about condoms and latex allergies ha ha ha.
Then came electrode lady!! She put little electrodes everywhere on my upper half. I think it took longer to put the electrodes on then to do the actual test.
Next came the doctor (not my surgeon)... he asked me some questions and then was like.. lay on the table and pull up your gown and undo your pants!!! ha ha ha I'm like... uh ok.. and he pushed on my stomach some.
Then I waited a bit and got some x-rays of my chest.. and that was it... and then I went to McDonalds on the way home...
To quote the nutritionist "You can eat anything and everything you want until Monday at noon." ... I fully intend to
When you started talking about the blood gas i know that one all to well not on myself, but my mom had them alot cause she was on oxygen and they need a good oxygen blood level, and omg she cried all the time i wished i could have done it for her.Damn i hate needles.I didnt know they did a blood gas on you..
