New To The Group
Hi everyone! I have decided to have lap band surgery and I would like to hear from anyone who has had surgery with Dr. Santiago Horgan in Chicago, and their opinion of him. Also, I've read the stories about people who have gone with the New Self Bariatrics, and wondered if anyone could give me a reason they feel I should not go there. Also, anyone specifically dealing with/dealt with Unicare PPO Classic of Illinois and any problems they encountered.
Happy Holidays!!
Hi Amy,
I can't possibly give you a reason NOT to go to New Self Bariatrics..
I haven't heard of your surgeon or your insurance company.. I do know there are links on the left of the page that will let you search for your doctor and insurance company by name and see what other people have experienced with them..
Best of luck to you!! Stop by often!

New Self is great, I've never had better care in my life, I know that Dr. Rantis does the Lap Band, he did my RNY and has since, done 5 other proceedures on me (none related to the WLS). I could not get better care from anyone, he's met me in th ER, always calls back the same day, there office staff has always been wonderful. I would check them out before you make a decision.

Dr. Horgan is a colleague of my husband's surgeon. There is a web group at Yahoo! called myuicfriends which is moderated by Lauren (the main nurse) and whoever happens to be the nutritionist this week.
There are a lot of Dr. Horgan's patients on that site.
Good luck with you surgery! I don't know anything specific about the surgeon or the New Self group or your insurance, but you may be able to find out more by following the links, as suggested earlier.

Hi Kathy - I also live in Arlington Heights. This is the first time I have seen anyone in the same town as me.
I don't know anything about Dr Horgan in Chicago. I am having LAP RNY with Dr Hoeltgen out of Good Sheperd in Barrington on 1/7/05, and I can't wait. Keep me posted on your progress.
I have BC/BS HMO and I was approved in 2 days!
Good Luck to you,
Mary
