Sensitive subject!
Hi Everyone,
Something has been nagging at me since yesterday. I have thought long and hard about whether to post anything about it and I've come to the conclusion that since this is a place not only for information but for encouragement and support...I will post my thoughts.
In no way is this a "flaming" post, I want to make that clear right from the start. I dont think there is any need to get nasty or rude. The main purpose behind this post is to make a certain person aware of the impact her comment made on several people on this board and maybe give the rest of us something to think about also.
Yesterday I posted a question about Dr. Vaughn (my surgeon along with a few others on the board). He will be doing my surgury January 18th. In my post I asked about seeing another post mentioning that Dr. Vaughn had lost a patient. My post was answered and it was clearly stated what Dr. Vaughn said about losing his patient and why. It was also clearly stated that Dr. Vaughn was still feeling the loss of this patient....now...one post up from mine was a post requesting information on surgeons. The persons comment I'm referring to for no apparent informational purpose decided to post and very rude comment about Dr. Vaughn. Comments like that are very uncalled for on this type of forum. At first I thought it was just a joke but the more I thought about it the more I realized, joking about such a sensitive subject as the surgeon that is about to have so many of our lives in his hands is NO laughing matter. We are all here for support and encouragement and yes...to gather as much information as we possibly can. But if you don't have ANY information to give or any positive feed back to contribute?...why bother saying anything at all?
Anyway, I just wanted to bring it to her attention that there are people out here that comments like that will affect and maybe a "think before I post" attitude in the future will reduce the risk of a negative outcome!

Hi Konni,
I'm glad you did decide to post your concerns about a previous entry. I have seen some hurtful things posted to people and I feel bad for those involved. We are all grown ups and can "talk/type" through any problems that might come up. I think it just really comes down to the fact that we are all so passionate about everything to do with WLS that sometimes things are posted first and thought about later. I really enjoy everyone on the board and I just want everyone to get along. Oh Lord- I sound like Kathie Lee Gifford- someone hunt me down and shoot me please.
