It seems there are a lot of us here... who all is from Barix and who is your doctor and are you pre or post op? I'm pre-op, but hoping to get surgery before the end of the year! I have Dr. Vaughn! I'm probably going to the next support group meeting!

Hello Brooke, I had surgery on 10-05-2004 with Dr. Boe at Barix. 2 month anniversary this weekend (-51 pounds, currently 279)! They really are a great group and I'm glad I made this decision. Mike

Thats awesome... what was it like when you signed up for a date? Did they let you pick or give you available days? Basically do you think if I ask them for 12/27 it's possible I could get it?

They are actually really good about letting you pick a date. My hubby is a firefighter, he works 24 hour shifts so I have to work around that. May in the scheduling office gave me a bunch of dates that were available and we picked from there. If Dr. Vaughn has an opening on the date you want and you have your approval I cant see any reason why you couldnt get that date....oh....and you have to go in for pre-op testing a week before your surgery date so keep that in mind when you pick a date also. I wish I lived closer...I would come to the meeting too!

I am post op and I had Dr. Boe! I just adore him and the staff in Belvidere! They were so great with my mom and all while I was in surgery! And Dr. Boe went and talked to her while I was in recovery and explained everything to her! You just cant beat the nurses as most of them have had the surgery themselves!! You will love them and Dr. Vaughn seems very nice also. I saw him at my two week follow up while I was signing in. Nice big smile! I asked Dr. Boe why he chose this type of work and he said "I love what I do, and I get to do major surgery everyday!" I think thats why they are so good and are always smiling! Good Luck! Lea Ann

Hi I am POST - OP almost 3 weeks - my surgeon was Dr. Boe, a super nice and intelligent man. The nurses took such great care of me. I had an overall great experience, with zero complications. My incision is healed and I feel great. Best of luck to you. Colleen

Dr. Boe - May 20, 2003. I got kindof mad after my last visit -1 year check up. He seemed dissapointed I hadn't lost more weight than I did and that I was able to eat "bad" thinks for me like sugar and high fat foods without any negative side effects. I am 2 hours away from belvidere and I usually take time off work to my appointments; just to weigh in and talk to him for 15 minutes. I don't think I will be making any further annual checkups unless I see an issue.
