Looking for a surgeon
hmmmm I'm assuming the comment about Dr. Vaughn was a lil joke? ...because if the whole post was read correctly... "He said that he had a young man around 3 1/2 years ago that had a severe heart problem. He died a few weeks after the sugery. It seems it was one of those cases where he needed the surgery, but his body was in worse shape than anyone realized."....this surgery is risky for anyone...even people who don't already have several other medical problems due to being obese...that doesn't make the surgeon a bad one because he lost a patient...
Dr. Vaughn is a wonderful surgeon and I have no second thoughts whatsoever about putting my life into his hands. He would certainly be another choice for you if you are looking for a well qualified, caring doctor.
Good luck in your search!
~hugs~

I don't know if this helps, but I know someone in the medical school at Mizzou (Columbia) and they were just starting up a bariatric service at the university hospital. Appartently, they got 2 of the best surgeons from the St. Louis area who specialize in lap to run the practice. I doubt they will take Illinois public aid, but it never hurts to ask.
