Konni, When I had my consult with Dr. Vaughn, I asked if he'd ever lost a patient. He said that he had a young man around 3 1/2 years ago that had a severe heart problem. He died a few weeks after the sugery. It seems it was one of those cases where he needed the surgery, but his body was in worse shape than anyone realized. Dr. Vaughn really took it hard, and I could tell it still bothered him. I was impressed by the fact that he was still affected by it, and that he felt there was something he should have noticed, even though the young man was a high risk. Terry

awwww! how sad! Thanks for answering my post Terry. I do recall now reading your post about it. I'm so glad we have Dr. Vaughn because with him as our surgeon we are one step closer to having a great outcome. ...he was telling me during my consult that he gets so many compliments on the size of the cut he makes to do the surgery...3-4 inches at most...I read a while back some where on here that a lady had him for her surgeon and she was so happy with how her cut turned out...(why cant I think of something else to call that right now? lol)....anyway...she said it healed so well it only looks like a scratch now....no wonder he gets so many compliments huh?

Konni, That was a concern for me, when I realized that he preferred open. But I have no problem with a 4" cut, and he said it wouldn't be any bigger than that for me. Terry

It seems I read somewhere that he's single and just got back from 3 weeks in Iraq. Sounds like a real catch and he's definitely attractive. Terry

I was reading this post and although I went to the same hospital, I had Dr. Boe. I met Dr. Vaugh one day in the waiting room while I was signing in. He, along with Dr. Boe are the best! I think the whole crew out there in Belvidere are just the most caring wonderful people any WLS person could ask for!! Lea Ann

He told me the same story about the guy. I was glad that he was honest about it and stated that no matter what he takes it personal. He left the day after I had my surgery. He was called up by the Military. He said that he was not going to Iraq or any place dangerous. I was glad to ehar that. I had to see Dr Boe for my 2 week check up because he was gone. He had just got back the day before my 6 weeks check up. He is a cutie! I told him Boy if I were not married........ LOL!!
