Hi everyone - I am Colleen from Franklin Park. I had my surgery on 11/16 - about 9 days ago - I am on liquids and cannot get a grasp on when I am full. I am scarred to death to over eat (haha overdrink). I am not really sure what to expect at this stage Help Colleen

Hi Colleen Congrats on making it to the "Losers" side Did you have any nutritional counseling? At this stage you are still recovering..... since you are on liquids.... it will be hard to tell when you are full. Just stick to your drs. orders in regards to portions...lol... Just try to keep sipping all day. You may not feel hungry for a while either. Just curious.... do you use any protein drinks? Good luck! Tracy -155

Hi Colleen~ Congratulations on becoming a loser I'm with Tracy on this one ... did you meet with a dietician? Or what did your doc say about "portions"? If you're not sure I'd definitely give them a call. Keep working on sipping those liquids and getting all of those in, that's very important always. The first couple of weeks were the hardest for me because of the adjustment to those new rules and all of the changes I was undergoing. Hang on - it's going to be one heck of a ride! Best wishes to you, Cathy

Just sip sip sip at this point. Get your water in as best as you can. With only getting liquids in right now you will not overdrink because anything that is up to the thickness of milk will drain right through your pouch like water through a funnel. It is when you start on soft foods and regular foods that you will have the awareness of being full. But, do not worry YOU will feel full, guarenteed.

Hi Colleen, I'm about a week ahead of you (sugery on 11/12) and let me tell you, you WILL feel full.. it's almost surprising. Taking protein or adding it to what you're drinking will make a difference and you will start to feel that "full" feeling. When you get to pureed or soft foods, the full feeling will come sooner and you'll feel like you can eat even less than you did. I have to echo what everyone else says.. the important thing right now is to keep getting liquids in. You need to be careful of getting dehydrated (it'll be easier now since you're not taking fluids in the quantities you used to). Just keep following your doctor's or nutritionist's instructions and you'll be fine. We'll be here for you if you need us! Stef

I too had surgery on the 16th and I'm eating thin sliced lowfat cheeses, lunch meat, tuna salad, etc. You'll feel full once you get to more solid foods. Just remember to CHEW, CHEW, CHEW.
