CAT Scan help
This is a typical problem. When my dad weighed over 400, they had to transport him (when he was in the hospital for heart surgery) over 50 miles to get a CAT scan and an MRI. It is typical for hospitals to be cautious, because they do not want a patient to get stuck, nor do they want their equipment damaged. The sad thing is that open devices, as well as portable ones, are now available, and hospitals choose not to upgrade, and continue to ignore the needs of their bigger patients.
The hospital my husband just got out of on Friday? Only 2 larger wheelchairs in the whole place. TWO!!! We waited over 2 hours for one, for my husband's discharge, so there is obviously a case to be made for having more...
You would think that the hospital would be the one place where patients of any size could receive the care they need.
