Having Surgery Friday - 1 question!

Hi! I'm one of those "lurkers" and I wanted to thank everyone who posts such informative postings on this board. It has been easy for me to make a decision to have surgery. Well, now that the date is coming up soon (Friday) I have a question. Whats the deal with this pouch thing? I realize about the concept about LapBand but it seems like this pouch that people talk about is outside of their body for a week or so after the surgery. Am I reading this correctly? It's promising to see that people are able to go back to work quickly but my doctor never mentioned having something OUTSIDE of my body after surgery. Does anyone have and insight on this? Thanks for any help!

A pouch is what the doctor makes with part of our stomach when they do the gastric bypass, the part above the band may be called a pouch also. The thing outside your body is probably a drain. I had 2 for about a week, but some dont have any, its what your surgeon prefers. Best of luck to you!
